I just read in the comments that you actually paid to have this copyrighted.

That was a very (economically) silly idea, since everything you create is automatically copyrighted to you under a system called "intellectual property"

"Registering" copyright, only provides a date for the conception of the work.

So, even if you're super-paranoid about your work getting stolen, just mailing yourself a copy of the work will ensure there is a date affixed to the creation of the document, basically the same thing registering the copyright does. It makes it impossible for anyone to say "BUT I MADE IT FIRST." as you have proof of the date of creation. And this will cost you nothing but postage.
